Help During the Most Sensitive Times
Pregnancy and early parenthood are sacred times — for babies, young children, and for parents. Yet, way too often, people do not have the resources, tools, or support they need to thrive or nurture other little beings during these developmentally rich windows of time. If you are looking for more people in your corner, you’re in the right place.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy can be one of the most incredible times in life, and often, sometimes simultaneously, it can bring big challenges, as well. Having experienced my own challenges during pregnancy, I understand how it feels to have a pregnancy look and feel differently than you may have hoped, envisioned, or expected. I specialize in helping women with fear, complications, and anxiety prior to or during pregnancy.
Postpartum
Massive life changes accompany becoming a mother — physiologically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Extra support during this time can help clear mental and emotional space and give you more bandwidth during this time of giving, resting, integrating, and expanding. What happens during these moments matters, and care for all mothers should be available during this sensitive and important time.
Parenting
The context in which we each grow up, our relationships with our primary caretakers, and the experiences we have with our parents deeply and profoundly shape us. Few things are more meaningful to me than helping parents improve the care they give their babies, toddlers, and young children. When parents discover what their unique child needs during sensitive developmental windows, the entire family benefits.
Which Service Is For Me?
I offer counseling, coaching, and consultation. Read below to find out which could be the best fit for you.
Counseling
Through Counseling, I offer a warm and safe space where clients can unpack thoughts, feelings, and experiences that can feel painful or overwhelming. When unprocessed, certain experiences can add a heavy burden to already complex times in life. Counseling is a clinical service, and the purpose is to help people find relief and freedom from symptoms of anxiety, depression, or trauma.
Coaching
Coaching is for people who are ready to examine their role in the family dynamic, look at how this impacts their child’s development, and prioritize becoming the parent they want to be. Through coaching, parents can heal and shed unprocessed experiences from their own histories, explore what they truly want to give to their children, and take steps to bring this into reality.
Consultation
Consultation is for those who have generalized questions on a specific topic or want a professional opinion regarding a given situation. This is for people who want a brief discussion without ongoing support. People often seek consultation for topics such as whether or not a child needs therapy, which types of therapy to pursue, navigating changes, or complications during pregnancy, like hyperemesis.
My Approach
What happens during pregnancy and early childhood matters — for babies, children, and parents. Experiences during these sensitive times shape us, inform our family development, and often determine what happens next. For children, experiences during the first few years of life inform nearly every aspect of their development.
We are social beings who are wired for connection, and the types and qualities of connection we have with those around us informs our social, emotional, physical, physiological, and neurological development and wellbeing. For babies, toddlers, and young children, nearly all of this connection that is so impactful comes from you (the parents or caregivers).
No pressure, right?!
It actually can feel like pressure — and this is why support for mothers and parents is so crucial during these times. The more supported, in-tune, and aligned with yourself you feel, the better it is not only for you, but also for your baby or child and for the rest of your entire family.
Healthy connection is based in trust, consistency, emotional safety, accountability, reliability, predictability, warmth, nurturing, and love.
We all want these things, and most parents want to give these to their children (and more), but things can get in the way. Family stressors, misunderstandings, differing personality types between family members, insufficient help and support, and unhealed parent wounds are just a few examples of things that can drain individuals and family systems — and cause problems if they go unrecognized or unaddressed.
Seeking support and addressing root cause issues during these sensitive times can increase quality of life now, and it can also lead to immeasurable benefits for the future — especially for babies, toddlers, and young children.
What clients say...
“Dr. Sarah helped me connect with my 3 year old daughter on such a deep level that I am certain our bond is lifelong. My child who is now almost 7 is thriving and happy. And I am a more nurturing parent and a better person as the result of the therapy we received with Dr. Sarah.”
“Thank you so much for your advice and guidance. Since our last session, (our daughter) has done amazing (or maybe I should say we have done amazing!). She hasn’t had a night terror, no hurting anyone, she listens, is so sweet and happy — it’s so wonderful.
A short email doesn’t seem adequate in expressing my gratitude. I’m so glad we reached out to you. I will be referring you to everyone I know that needs help. Your work is so important. I’m so glad you are doing it!”
“I can’t thank you enough for the positive impact you’ve made on me and my daughter’s life. We still use the techniques you taught us. My daughter is able to have a voice because of you.”
